QSFB
I was assigned the role of Quick Service Food and Beverage at Pizzafari located in Disney's Animal Kingdom. QSFB is different in all locations so I can only write about my experience about Pizzafari but if you do choose to apply, please note that your experience can be significantly different than mine. In general QSFB is basically just like a fast food restaurant at Disney. If you get placed in QSFB you will need to be comfortable with lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods of time, handling food allergies, learning about different chemicals and how to handle them, and dispensing alcohol to guests. At Pizzafari one thing the college program students were not allowed to train in was register and this I know is a major difference compared to any other QSFB location. We could have been assigned any of the following positions from the computer randomly while coming into our shifts: prepping salads, putting pizzas in the oven, taking pizzas out of the oven and cutting them, stocking the kitchen, stocking the counter, making drinks, doing tickets, putting the pizzas on trays, taking the trash out, bussing, and washing dishes. At Pizzafari we had a unique dining service at night called Family Style which was more like a restaurant style service and gave us much more guest interaction than regular QSFB. Family style had other positions that were assigned to us and they could have been anything from bussing tables, running out food, being an expeditor for the food, drink running, getting the drinks and the salads for the drink runners, taking the pizza out of the oven and cutting it, and being a host.
I gained valuable on the job experience during my very short time working at Disney. One of the most important I believe to be is meeting guests and attending their needs and learning just how Disney does this to accommodate everyone from all over the world. I now know how to check for ID if someone is from a different country while selling alcohol to them. I know the valid forms of ID needed for people in the US and from somewhere out of the country. I have also learned just how important it is to keep everything sanitized and keeping and storing food at proper temperatures. One of the most important things with working with food is to mark the time it was taken out from storage and mark the time it would expire which would be in four hours and this is very valuable to learn to ensure guests' safety. I also have learned how to keep a smile on my face and be positive through stressful time because QSFB is very fast-paced and very stressful and because of this I feel like I am ready to take on any other high intensity job. The biggest and most important accomplishment that this program gave me was a good mentality. I had to be ready for anything that was thrown at me and be able to respond appropriately and this is something I will cherish and take with me to all future jobs or internships.
